SEL Empowerment Through Equity Pause and Emotional Mapping

Creating classroom climates that promote student well-being is at the heart of our work in education. By shifting the educator mindset and implementing key changes, the ineffective “one-size-fits-all” model can be transformed into experiences that promote student agency, equity, and increased engagement. Techniques will be revealed to guide transformation for student and teacher experiences alike. Educators will engage in active learning in this session, becoming catalysts to foster increased student self-awareness and social emotional agility through use of equity pauses and emotional mapping. Participants will leave the session with strategies to plan curriculum by employing an Equity Pause, effective ideas to maintain a pulse on student engagement through Emotional Mapping, supporting processes to increase student engagement and motivation in remote and in-person environments and redefining assessment through use of a Growth Mindset rubric.
